Literacy Education and Second Language Learning for Adults

Dear LESLLA Community,

Welcome

On behalf of the LESLLA Board of Directors and the LESLLA community, thanks for being here. We are so happy that you are interested in joining us!

About LESLLA

LESLLA first began in 2005 with a commitment to meet annually and publish yearly proceedings to advance the scholarship around LESLLA education and provide valuable insights for researchers, educators, and policy makers. We have been moving the work forward ever since, with the first LESLLA Board of Directors elected in fall 2018 and new board members from around the world joining every year. We are a volunteer board that is deeply invested in the LESLLA community and we’re striving to make LESLLA as accessible and beneficial as possible to all members.

Become a member

To accomplish our goals of making LESLLA a more sustainable organization and more accessible to educators worldwide, some revenue is needed. Therefore, we offer paid membership. Membership revenue allows us to maintain our excellent website, access technology so that LESLLA events are available virtually, offer financial support to those hosting the annual symposium and make the proceedings open access. If you can, thank you for considering membership to LESLLA.

To begin this official membership journey, we ask LESLLA supporters to choose to "Become a Member" on this site.  Three membership rates are available, and we trust you will choose the one that works for you and your personal situation.  Once a member, you are eligible for a conference registration discount, and you can also subscribe to our mailing list. Members are eligible to vote in the annual elections for the Board of Directors and can also be nominated for a role on the Board.  Membership lasts for one calendar year, at which time you will be asked to renew.

Thank you for joining us as we develop and strengthen our organization and help us pursue our mission: high-quality, inclusive opportunities for LESLLA learners worldwide through a community of practice focused on research-based teaching, professional development, advocacy, and policy.

Best wishes,

Kaatje Dalderop

LESLLA Board President 2026
